A murder warrant has been issued for an Akron man wanted in connection with a June 16 shooting that killed Jalen DiCenzi.Capt. David Kurzinsky, who heads the Police Department’s detective bureau, said police are looking for Chad G. Fite II, 22, whose last known address was in Akron.Fite is accused of shooting DiCenzi in the head as DiCenzi drove at 14th Street NE and Plain Avenue.Canton Police and agents with the U.S. Marshal’s Violent Fugitive Task Force and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force are looking for Fite.Anyone coming into contact with Fite, or anyone who knows where he is, should not approach him and instead dial 911, Kurzinsky said.Fite is black, 5-feet-11-inches tall and about 205 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
Detectives have not filed charges in other shootings that occurred last week.During a vigil for DiCenzi three days after his death, shots were fired from a passing car into a crowd at 14th and Gibbs Avenue NE, injuring four people. And almost four hours later, more shots were fired in the 1000 block of Second Street NW, killing Darian Cundiff, 47, and injuring an 18-year-old man later found in the 900 block of Tuscarawas Street W with two bullet wounds in his leg.Police have said the shootings were “group-related,” and they continued Wednesday to search for a motive. Kurzinsky has said that the last drive-by may have been a case of mistaken identity. He said detectives are interviewing witnesses and pursuing more on information they receive. Witnesses have been tight-lipped about the incident, he said.Police renewed their plea for anyone with information about the incidents to call them at 330-489-3144 or to leave a tip on the city’s Tip411 line by texting the word “Canton” and the tip to 847411.
